Behavior Guidance

We recognize that children face many challenges throughout their lives. Learning acceptable behaviors and being able to regulate their own behaviors in different social and emotional environments, or when interacting with their peers or adults, are two of those challenges. The staff at Kids Kottage Leaning Center provides each child with guidance that will help him/her acquire a positive self concept and self control, as well as teach them acceptable behavior.

While many schools follow a “Discipline Policy” we prefer to follow a “Behavior Guidance Policy”. “Discipline” is often associated with punishment because it has previously been defined by what adults do to children to control behaviors. It is also used as a threat or consequence of inappropriate behavior. We prefer to use the term “guidance” because it includes all forms of behavior not just those behaviors labeled as “negative”
